Dynamic digital twin of port

Dynamic digital twin of port:A dynamic digital twin of Singapore’s port, powered by artificial intelligence, is set for trial in the second half of 2025. Developed by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in collaboration with the Government Technology Agency, research institutes, and industry partners, the virtual model will integrate real-time data from vessels, port operations, environmental sensors, and live drone footage. It aims to enhance navigational safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability while improving emergency response to oil and chemical spills.

A dynamic digital twin of Singapore’s port, powered by artificial intelligence, is set for trial in the second half of 2025.

By simulating various scenarios and modelling pollutant spread, the digital twin will aid in predictive analysis and decision-making during incidents. It is also expected to optimize standard operating procedures for bunkering alternative fuels such as methanol and ammonia. Minister of State for Transport and Law Murali Pillai announced the project at Singapore Maritime Week, emphasizing its potential to reduce waiting times and turnaround delays. The system will be progressively extended to industry stakeholders, maritime researchers, and academia under carefully managed access, with prospects for future integration into global digital shipping corridors. This initiative represents a significant leap forward in port management, setting new standards for safety, efficiency, and sustainable maritime operations.
